Based on the international award-winning radio series by Michael Harrison, this revealing story of the life and death of Mario Lanza has been adapted by Alan Hopgood, and has featured the voices of some of Australia's leading tenors.
In a stunning presentation of 24 Lanza songs and arias, the audience is treated to the great Lanza 'hits' such as "Be My Love", "Granada", "I'll Walk with God", "Golden Days", and 'Lanza' is joined by 'Kathryn Grayson' for some of their popular duets.
Through his close relationship with the Lanza family, writer and broadcaster Michael Harrison had a unique insight into the events of Lanza's life. Not only is this a musical feast, but the triumph and tragedy of a career (cut short, some would say, by the Mafia) are poignantly captured in the Harrison/Hopgood script.
